I wanted to create mood for a shot video piece that was dramatic, ambient and atmospheric. I jumped on my midi-controller keyboard and generated this sound on my computer using software synths and mixed it and processed it in audacity. Useful for background music for video, or for meditation.

Played around with nexus and found this piano which sounds like zelda music. Used "kshmr_ambiance_drone_16_f" from kshmrs third "free-to-use" soundpack for background ambiance. Bpm: nonechord: i don't know chords i just used notes that sounded cool.

In 's-hertogenbosch in holland we have carnival every year. This is a recording in the centre of the city. A recording of several 'dweilorkesten' that is a band that plays musing in the street. 'literal' translation is 'mop band or mopping band'. The go trough the streets like someone mopping the floor. This recording at the market-place is made with hundreds of people around. The ambience here is totally different from other places in the town and the world. It complete different than the south american carnival. Recorded: march 7th 2011, markt, 's-hertogenbosch, holland. It's a recording of sounds of an old store refridgerator. The recorder (zoom h2) was put into the fridge. There are sounds of fridge getting opened and closed, started up and stopped. It was recorded in a dance studio, hence the music in the background audible in the beginning. Lots of interesting noises this fridge makes. Recorded with zoomh2 rear mics from inside of the fridge. I was trying to make some floaty meditation type music like people use for hypnotherapy and yoga and stuff but accidentally made something fractionally too menacing. To me it sounds like something you might have in the background of a scene where viewer is contemplating an unexpected cosmic vastness or an ancient alien artefact or something otherwise mindblowing but also potentially existentially threatening.

I recorded this in my living room with mics in an x-pattern on the couch very close together, using a tascam dr-70d and behringer dyynamic microphones with patch cables for optimal volume. I recorded this at maximum gain on the tascam as two stereo files, then conjoined them to a 6-channel audio file properly and mixed the front two channels to a monaural center channel for added effect. The final result is what can be downloaded here. Tghe music in the background is part of the star trek: generations expanded complete score, and is coming from my computer to the rear of the recording, which lasts just over a minute in length, and the music was just background noise for testing purposes only. No copyright infringement was intended. Credit for the music goes to the now late jerry goldsmith and also dennis mccarthy, who is still alive. Bought a piece of 12"x24"x22awg copper sheet metal last week and was fascinated by the warble noises it made when i picked it up out of the box. Recording: easy voice recorder (android) on a samsung s7. Post-processing: 2-pass noise removal with audacity due to fluorescent light hum and other background noise.

These short files are random selections from a 9min composite audio file i put together from an accidental recording made when i left my sony camcorder on in my studio. They are part of the same series posted elsewhere on thefreesoundproject site titled "accidental recordist". There is some hiss/background noise which is part of the street front urban scene of my studio. There are two chimes - one low pitch constructed of four aluminium tubes and wooden clapper (gift) and the high pitch one of small stainless steel discs (purchased in maui from craft shop). I did some basic cleanup of low level background noise and applied plus one level of loudness using adobe soundbooth cs3 to get some clarity.
